Diamond Guide
What to know before you choose: the diamonds we use, the shapes we love, and how weight is shown.
Mined and laboratory-grown diamonds
REVIENNE offers both mined and laboratory-grown diamonds. Each product page states the diamond type of that piece.
A mined diamond formed deep in the earth. A laboratory-grown diamond is carbon crystallized as diamond in a controlled environment. Both are real diamond, with the same chemical, physical and optical properties, and both are cut and polished in the same way.
The fancy cuts
The pear, the marquise and the oval are fancy shapes: anything other than the round brilliant. Each asks for judgment, in the length of a line and the balance of a curve, and each holds light in its own way. Discover the cuts.
The four Cs
- Cut: how well a diamond's facets are proportioned and finished, which governs how it returns light.
- Colour: how close to colourless a white diamond is.
- Clarity: how free a diamond is of tiny internal features and surface marks.
- Carat: the weight of a diamond: one carat is 0.2 grams.
Total carat weight
Most REVIENNE pieces are set with many diamonds. We show their combined weight as total carat weight, in decimals: 2.50 ct t.w. means the diamonds in the piece weigh two and a half carats together.
